so after much consideration i decided to leave my job at torta. things were getting a bit hectic trying to juggle all the jobs, also i realized i can make more than enough with catering and babysitting. this means that i now work about four days a week instead of working almost everyday. i have submitted a volunteer application to RRR and hope to hear back from them soon.
the last two weeks have been pretty good. last sunday i went to vic markets to do my grocery shopping. i enjoy going to the market, however it seemed that most of my fruit went off quicker than normal. in fact the basil i purchased went off the next day! maybe i didnt store it properly. that night pat and i went to the alderman for a drink. i looked across from where we were sitting and i saw the girl from AIH chatting with the bass player from the lucksmiths! i was too nervous to say anything, even though i interviewed her a few months ago, so eventually pat got up and introduced us to them. we had a nice talk about boulder and the recording session they did for 1190. i also made a fool of myself and looked super creepy in front of mark. i kept saying things like: oh god im so creepy! sorry for interrupting you! ive seen you play so many times let me recount EVERY DETAIL of those nights!... i really need to learn how to carry on proper conversations.
the week was pretty slow, did some babysitting for leisa on wed. that night i helped her and al set up for gabe's third birthday party. it was pirate theme and all the kiddos dressed up. leisa made a pirate cake while al transformed the trampoline into a giant pirate ship. i was the consultant and stood watching them with my hands on my hips giving directions. the party was a big success. the kids walked the plank, went on a treasure hunt, and played pass the parcel. there were also lots of temporary tattoos floating around, three of which formed a pirate sleeve on my lower left arm. temporary tattoos are just as much fun as i remembered, but a lot more difficult to remove... i scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed but couldnt get them to come off. finally i soaked my arm in a tub for about twenty minutes and after a little scrubbing they came off.
well its a big night in tonight so i think ill go make some dinner! thanks for checking in!

RRR, sorry
DadieO
i can totally picture you there talking with the band guy - so funny, joan.
and i love markets, too. but even in boulder, at the farmers market, didn't you find that a lot of organic food goes off quicker than the grocery store junk with all the steroids injected into them. it's worth it if you can eat it quickly, but yeah, not so much if it keeps going bad on you.
glad to hear you're quitting one of the jobs. you need time to enjoy yourself out there - that's the whole point!
one of these days we'll have to talk southeast asia. when are you planning on going again, february?
