adorably clueless

i am officially moved out of my stinky dirty house and it feels great. i have spent the last few nights in my new house on lygon street. it is a great area and there is a great bar called the alderman right next door. i live above a shop and i will post pictures in about a week and a half. i am not officially moved into my new room. the house has five bedrooms and the room i will be renting is not available until the 27th, so chris (the guy i rent from) was nice enough to let me have another room. however this room will only be open for a few more days before someone moves into it. i will then be couch hopping and visit newcastle until my actual room is available. confused yet? i will be leaving for newcastle at 7 am on thursday for a week visit with michael and christine collis. it will be nice to visit another part of australia. also the weather should be a bit warmer there.

since writing in my blog last i have been on a number of adventures. on sunday i went to visit the natural gallery. they have all kinds of special exhibits including prints by otto dix, a video installation from latin america, and (what i went for) an art deco exhibit. it was really neat to see all the different exhibits in the museum, they really have something for everyone. in all it took pat and me about four and a half hours to walk around (and im pretty sure we didnt even see everything). the only problem was the place was packed, we didnt even think about how many more people would be there on a sunday afternoon.

we also visited the aquarium. it was a pretty nice set up as well, there were so many fish i had never seen before including some crazy seaweed seahorses. there was also an area called the fish bowl, basically you would stand in this little hallway and fish in the tank would swim over you. there were sharks, manta rays, sea turtles, and other large fish in the tank. the aquarium is located right on the yarra river so before going in i walked along the river and enjoyed the scenery. melbourne is a very pretty town.

yesterday i visited the melbourne cemetery. it wasnt the prettiest i have been to but it was still pretty cool. the place is divided into little cemeteries in order to make up one large one. there is an italian section, jewish section, greek section, catholic section and a few others. here is a picture of the map. it was a wonderful day for walking around, literally the best weather since moving down here. here are a few pictures from the cemetery. it seems this was the only day i remembered to bring my camera... a bit morbid i know.
